NOVACANE

It was Big Daddy Cane's video "Smooth Operator" that birthed the rapper we know in San Antonio as Novacane. He was just fourteen then. By age fifteen, Novacane was freestling, and shortly after that in 1994 Novacane dropped his first cd entitled "The Formulator". People loved him for his quick, clean delivery and comical style. Born on the Eastside of San Antonio and raised in Virginia, Novacane's mother sang to him every day. She was moved by the old school classics she grew up on and would be singing and dancing throughout the house constantly. Then there was Novacane's father who listened mostly to NWA, and, like NWA, was from Compton. The everyday household sounds reflect in Novacane's music.

Virginia is where Novacane developed love for Hip Hop and basketball. At Menchville High School, Novacane played Varsity football and basketball, and was slated to play college ball receiving letters from various colleges. A knee injury kept him out of one game, but not the other. Novacane, also a music student, was accomplished in piano and flute, but, his favorite class was psychology. That should come as no surprise if you have heard his lyrics though, and his style, it's combo of DMX and Dr. Dre mixed with the laid back stance of actor Steven Segal. His favorite teacher - Mr. Combo. "Because he was mean! He was a hard nosed person that made you want to learn and he was strict like a drill sergeant." said Novacane.

Over the last 10 years, Novacane has been working hard on his music going into the studio an average of three days a week. He is never without pen and pad. Novacane's goals are set high and his eye is on his future. Now affiliated with S.U.C., DJ Gold and Novacane are working on a new mixtape together. Novacane raps a lot with his cousin Buddy Revell, a former Golden Gloves champion boxer. There is that blood connection that gets them both going hard on stage. Similar to the Bushwhackers ... they just go and go and go. Novi has many cd's on the streets - "Mafioso Compilation" with SPM, "Revenge of the Renegade" parts 1 and 2, and a few mixtapes.
